Spring is in the air. The first robins are beginning to make their appearance. The green leaves of tulips and daffodils are starting to poke through the soil, and a few hardy crocuses have even burst into bloom.
As the days begin to lengthen and the air gradually warms, the promise of spring seems tantalizingly close. But Mother Nature can be a tease. Despite spring’s official entrance on March 20, we can still expect a few more weeks of blustery weather before spring flowers bloom and paint the garden beds in bold strokes of red and yellow.
It’s that teasing wait when the weather seesaws between spring and winter that makes March seem to last forever. Fortunately, we don’t have to depend on Mother Nature’s fickle moods to bring a little spring cheer into our homes. Gorgeous Just Add Ice Orchids, their petals saturated with deep hues of pink, purple and yellow, are now available in local stores. When the outside world is gray and dreary, colorful Phalaenopsis orchids provide the delightful breath of spring we need to chase away the winter blues. Using Just Add Ice Orchids and a little creativity, you can create a cheerful spring display. Just Add Ice Orchids are double-potted, which makes it easy to remove the growing pot from the decorative exterior container and place it in a more whimsical container.
For a charming spring arrangement, display a row of orchids in colorful rubber rain boots. Use children’s boots of the same or graduated heights. To raise the plant so the leaves protrude above the top of the boot, place a drinking glass or other container, open end down, inside the boot to form a platform for the orchid pot. A line of booted orchids tromping down a table is sure to make anybody think of spring!
