Phalaenopsis Orchids Impart Elegant Air to Winter Wedding Receptions

January 20, 2011

Orchids add elegance and romance to winter weddings. A perennially popular wedding flower, Just Add Ice Phalaenopsis Orchids enhance wedding celebrations with their exotic form and opulent colors. Available in nearly every color, Phalaenopsis orchids can be used to match, complement or contrast with the couple’s wedding colors to help create the appropriate atmosphere at winter wedding receptions.

In our previous post we shared both traditional and trendy ideas for incorporating Just Add Ice Orchids into wedding bouquets and corsages. Today, we share tips from wedding designers on the most effective ways to use orchids at your wedding reception:

  • Wedding cake. Fresh flowers are not a new choice for wedding cakes, but they are considered particularly trendy this year. Brides are leaving off the traditional bride and groom figurines and instead gracing the top tier of their wedding cake with a bouquet of fresh orchids. Individual orchid blossoms placed randomly on lower tiers and scattered across the cake table create an elegant display and a lovely setting for photographs. Another new trend is the use of colored orchid blooms to extend the bride’s color scheme to the traditionally all-white wedding cake.
  • Reception tables. Wedding designers are playing mix and match to give wedding reception décor a fresh new look. A mix of round and square tables are scattered across the reception hall, tied together with the same color table linens.
  • Centerpieces. Because they come in such a dazzling array of colors, Just Add Ice Orchids are popularly used in centerpieces to display the wedding colors at the reception. More brides are “waking up” their wedding celebrations by choosing centerpiece orchids and table linens in contrasting colors. Wedding designers recommend the use of not more than two colors in wedding reception décor to avoid a disjointed appearance.
