Orchid Care While Your Orchid is Blooming
Just Add Ice Orchids flourish in a home or office environment with bright, in-direct light at any temperature that is comfortable for humans. To help determine the best location, choose a similar spot as you would grow and enjoy an African Violet. Optimal temperatures range from 65 to 80 degrees F during the day and 60 to 70 degrees F at night.
But above all, watering your orchid is most important, which we’ve made easy by following this simple rule of thumb: "3 ice cubes per week." Yeah, it’s that’s simple! Watering orchids with ice will not harm the leaves or roots and when placed on top of the media it will slowly release over time with no worries of over-watering.
To help prolong the life of your orchid, try avoiding cold or warm drafts, such as near an open window or heat vent. Be careful of overexposing your orchid to direct sunlight, as sunburned leaves could result. Also, watch out for dull, limp foliage, as this indicates not enough water.
Originating in the tropics, an orchid enjoy moist air at a humidity level between 55-75%. If you observe deformed emerging flowers or leaves it is likely the result of low humidity. To raise humidity levels, try running a humidifier during the day, this should be placed in the same room as your orchid.
