5 Resolutions to Make This Year

January 4, 2024

It’s a new year, so does the new you include new habits? New decorations? New plants? The start of a fresh new year is the perfect time to freshen up your home and your habits. Use the advantage of a clean slate to figure out which areas of your home have needed some extra love and make a resolution to get the interior space you’ve always wanted, not only will you feel refreshed, but decluttering is great for your mental health.

Here are five home-related resolutions you should make this year.

New Year's Resolutions

  1. De-clutter

Did you know that having a cluttered home can contribute to stress? This year, make it a priority to clean out that closet, unburden those bookshelves, clear off those kitchen counters and organize that garage. Not only will this help cleanse your space, but it’ll also give you room to add new things to your space that you may not previously had space for, like plants! You’ll be surprised how nice a streamlined home will feel and adding some nature into your home will help keep your space feeling light and fresh.

  1. Add some color (we suggest green!)

Tackling a big project, like paint or new furniture, can feel overwhelming, but adding small touches of color throughout your space can help it feel bright and new without having to make major changes! We suggest adding new plants to your space, not only does the natural green tone warm up any space, but bright plants – like orchids or anthuriums – are a great pop of color. Our 2024 motto, new year, new plants. You can also add new throw pillows and an updated rug, completely transforming the look of your rooms with minimal effort and without blowing the budget. Changing your color scheme is a great way to mark the passing of time. Perhaps when you originally moved into your home, the calming grey walls really spoke to you. However, in this new season of life, you’re interested in vibrant colors.

  1. Add More Houseplants

Houseplants aren’t just beautiful additions to your home decor. They’re also good for air purification and stress relief. Add a low maintenance plant to your home office, bathroom or kitchen and see how much more peaceful and natural those spaces instantly begin to feel.

  1. Switch up Your Shelves

You know those shelves you painstakingly organized all those years ago? If your layout has gone a little stale, now’s the perfect time to switch it up. Change out the photos in your frames, reorganize your knick knacks, add a vibrant plant or buy that new décor item you’ve been eying for months.

  1. Reorganize Your Furniture

By simply switching up the layout of your furniture, you can give a room an entirely different feel. Try positioning your bed on another wall or switching up your living room so the couch points in the opposite direction. Want to get creative?
