6 Occasions to Gift A Money Tree Plant

March 30, 2023

Practitioners of feng shui often turn to money trees as a means of creating positive energy and balance in their homes and office spaces, making them a practical gift for many occasions.

According to legend, a man prayed for money and then became rich by growing multiple trees from one tree he found in the wetlands. He credited the tree for his newfound wealth, giving the money tree plant its name and its purpose.

A Money Tree Plant is the Perfect Gift for These Occasions

Money trees are a symbol of luck and prosperity, so many people believe owning one will attract these qualities. The next time you are a guest at one of these events, consider giving a money tree plant as a gift.

1. Birthdays

Here’s to making another successful rotation around the sun! Speaking of sun, money tree plants only need indirect sunlight, making them ideal for most indoor spaces.

They brighten up home and commercial office spaces and make great birthday gifts for supervisors and coworkers. What business couldn't use a bit more luck and prosperity?

2. Anniversaries

Love has brought them this far; why not add a little luck? Money tree plants typically sprout six leaves on each stem, but if you count one with seven, it’s thought to bring even more luck.

For the first few decades of marriage, every fifth year is a milestone anniversary. If you believe in luck and love, giving a money tree plant for a fifth, tenth or fifteenth anniversary just may add an auspicious element to the celebration!

3. Housewarming

Moving into any new home is an accomplishment worth celebrating, whether it’s an apartment, house, condo or RV. Celebrate their new living space with a plant that goes with everything and fits in a variety of spaces.

Feng shui enthusiasts recommend placing them in the southeast corner of a home because they believe this area is ruled by greenery and wood.

4. New job

Starting a new job is exciting, but it's also intimidating. A cheerful money tree plant will remind them of their good fortune in securing a new position, thereby boosting their confidence.

If they’re moving into a corner office, remind them not to put their plant baby in direct sunlight because it could burn its leaves. Money tree plants also have air-purifying qualities, and everyone in the office can benefit from that!

5. Graduation

Starting a new chapter is the perfect occasion for a money tree plant. Your graduate may be super busy looking moving to a dorm room or going to job interviews. In either case, they could use a dose of good fortune! As an added bonus for busy people in a major life transition, this plant only needs 6 to 8 ounces of water every few weeks.

6. Appreciation

Has someone done something nice for you recently? Whether the person is a neighbor or friend who's been there for you in a time of need,  the money tree plant is a great way to say thank you.
